UK-based general contractor Willmott Dixon has secured an £86.3m ($140m) contract for the construction of ‘Tesco town’ in Woolwich, London.
The project will contain a 7,432m² Tesco superstore, seven retail units, a car park, a police station and 259 apartments.
Cyril Sweett is the project manager, while Sheppard Robson is the architect, Scott Wilson the services engineer and Walsh Associates the structural engineer for the project.
Construction work on site is slated to begin on 4 April 2011, with the supermarket and the first 100 apartments scheduled for completion by October 2012.
Final completion of the project is expected in 2013.
