Westminster City Council has granted planning permission for the construction of a new Crossrail station on Bond Street in London, UK.

The £300m ($485m) station has been designed by UK-based design firm John McAslan + Partners.

The 30,000m² project will consist of a five-level station with two deep east-west platforms which emerge at street level.

Main construction work on the new station is slated to begin before the end of 2011 and completed before Crossrail opens in 2018.

Upon completion, the station is expected to serve 225,000 passengers on a daily basis, up from the 155,000 passengers it serves currently.
