Algonquin College Unveils Plans for $53m Student Commons

Algonquin College and Algonquin Students' Association (SA) have unveiled the winning proposal and design for the C$52m (US$53.3m) student commons building in Ottawa, Canada. The design-build contract for the project has been awarded to PCL Constructors and IBI Group Architects / Teeple

Algonquin College and Algonquin Students’ Association (SA) have unveiled the winning proposal and design for the C$52m (US$53.3m) student commons building in Ottawa, Canada.

The design-build contract for the project has been awarded to PCL Constructors and IBI Group Architects / Teeple Architects.

The building will feature a 700-seat auditorium, private study areas, student meeting rooms and club spaces, international food outlets, a new technology store, a travel and tourism lab, and outdoor green spaces.

Construction is slated to begin in May 2011 with completion scheduled for September 2012.
