The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, an independent centre of the Oxford University in the UK will open in 2012.

Construction of the building commenced in 2002, but had to be stalled owing to a deficit of £25m in the construction budget.

Construction has recommenced with the help of donations from private individuals including a £20m donation from King Fahd of Saudi Arabia.

The centre will include a mosque, offices, an auditorium, a lecture theatre, a dining hall and accommodation for 40 students reports the Oxford Mail.
