New Zealand Stadium Reconstruction Begins

Construction work on the Stadium Southland complex has begun in Invercargill, New Zealand. The new facility is being constructed following the collapse of the old facility owing to heavy snowfall in September 2010. The stadium has been designed by New Zealand-based McCulloc

Construction work on the Stadium Southland complex has begun in Invercargill, New Zealand.

The new facility is being constructed following the collapse of the old facility owing to heavy snowfall in September 2010.

The stadium has been designed by New Zealand-based McCulloch Architects.

The new stadium will feature twice as much steel as the collapsed one and will feature piling buried 15m deep.

The new facility, described as a civic and entertainment centre, is expected to cost NZ$14m (US$10.15m) to build.
