The work includes construction of retaining walls and sections of pavements while construction of the main building is expected to begin in October 2011.

The building is designed to be fully enclosed and include a waiting area with seating, toilets, a shop, a cafe and a baby changing area.

The bus station will feature an aerial pedestrian walkway running above the road forecourt.

The project is being funded by the UK Government, Nottinghamshire County Council, Mansfield District Council and Midlands Development Agency.

Kier Marriott is the general contractor for the project, which is slated for completion in 2013.
