Spain-based wind energy firm Gamesa has commenced construction of its new office building in Navarre, Spain.

The new facility will have a total area of 10,000m² spread over six storeys.

The building will feature a cylindrical design which will have a 35% lower surface when compared with rectangular buildings, thereby reducing energy usage.

The new building is expected to be operational in mid 2012.

The company estimates that 1,600 employees will be based at the site, once construction is completed.
