Work is underway on the final phase of renovation at the New York City Center in Manhattan, US.

The final stage of development involves restoration of the box office and mezzanine lobbies, creation of an expanded street level lobby, a new patrons' lounge, new bars and additional restrooms.

Plans also include reconfiguration of the auditorium to improve sightlines and the installation of wider seats with increased legroom.

Work on the first phase, including installation of a new sprung stage floor, a new elevator shaft, modernised dressing rooms and backstage areas was completed in September 2010.

The renovated auditorium is slated to open on 25 October 2011.

The project was designed by Ennead Architects.
