US College Begins Construction of $48m Student Commons Building

The Dixie State College of Utah has commenced construction of the $48m Jeffrey R Holland Centennial Commons Building.

The HCC building will house a new library, an English department, classrooms, a central data server, and individual and group study areas.

The 15,793m² building will also provide student services including registration, financial aid, advising and counselling.

Jacobsen Construction, the general contractor, has commenced preliminary work on the building.

Construction of the facility is scheduled for completion in May 2012.

The Commons Building is being financed with $38m from the Utah State Legislature and a $10m anonymous donation.
