Moroccan bank BMCE’s regional headquarters buildings at Rabat and Casablanca have been opened.
The headquarters are the first buildings designed by architectural partners Foster + Partners in Africa.
The design of the buildings is based on a modular system built using local materials and craftsmanship.
The buildings have concrete frames, an entrance colonnade and bays made out of glazed panels and 200mm-deep screens that are repeated on a modular grid.
The buildings also contain an ‘earth tube’ system which is an electricity-free cooling system.
