Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects has been chosen to design the headquarters of PetroVietnam, a national oil and gas company, in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The proposed design calls for construction of PetroVietnam Tower, a 79-storey building housing the company's headquarters, a luxury hotel and a 47-storey residential tower.

The two towers are connected by an 84,000m² square podium composed of curving forms that will house a petroleum museum and media centre, shops and a skating rink.

The PetroVietnam tower will be hexagonal at the base and triangular at the top, while the residential tower will feature curved façades and a sloping top.

Construction of the towers is expected to begin in late 2011.
