Bouygues Construction subsidiary Bouygues Batîment Ile-de-France has completed the refurbishment of First Tower, an office building located in La Defense, Paris.

The €300m refurbishment project raised the height of the building from 155m to 230m by constructing ten additional storeys topped by a 40m-tall screen.

The building consists of three wings, one of which has been lowered to create a ten-storey stepped cut-back.

First Tower’s structure has also been reinforced and the building skin has been rebuilt with 40,000m² of glazing and curtain walling.

The refurbishment project was designed by KPF and French practice SRA Architectes.

Construction work on the project began in 2008.
