Lend Lease has been named as the design build contractor for a new public safety facilities and centralised communications centre in Largo, Florida, US.

The buildings will be constructed in association with Florida-based architects Harvard Jolly.

The $81.4m contract includes design, development, construction, furnishing and equipment.

The buildings will be designed as storm hardened facilities with the ability to withstand winds up to 203mph.

The campus will include an emergency operations centre, a 911 call centre, EMS and sheriff's dispatch centre and the sheriff's administrative and operational headquarters.

Work on the building is slated to begin in October this year, with completion pencilled in for August 2013.
