UK-based design and construction firm Morgan Sindall has started work on a £23m building at Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK.
Morgan Sindall secured the contract after a four-way single-stage design and building tender process.
The new building for the Manchester School of Art will contain teaching space, new workshops, a roof garden and a vertical gallery.
The project will also include refurbishment of the adjoining Chatham Tower including cladding the Tower in black horizontal stripes against a vertical finish.
The refurbished Chatham Tower will also be connected to an adjacent seven-storey gallery.
Construction is expected to be complete in mid 2012.
