US-based developer Koontz McCombs Construction has begun work on a design-build contract for the construction of a global headquarters for woundcare provider Kinetic Concepts in San Antonio, Texas, US.

The contract will be executed in coordination with San Antonio-based RVK Architects.

The headquarters will be housed in a three-storey building with an area of 9,300m² that will be built on an area of over eight acres.

The design of the building will be developed using building information modelling (BIM), a 3D design method that allows participants to play an active role in the design phase.

The building will be constructed using sustainable materials in order to achieve LEED certification.

Construction is slated to reach completion in mid 2012.
