Singapore-based developer Hatten Group has begun work on Hatten City, a $675m mixed-use community in Malacca, Malaysia.

The Hatten City project will comprise retail units, residences, hotels, an office tower, a resort and a shopping complex.

The main components of the project's first phase will be Silverscape, a 45-storey condominium tower, and a shopping mall called Elements.

The mall will include a Time Tunnel which will showcase the 500-year history of Malacca inspired by Dongdaemun and Namdaemun, the Korean fashion hubs.

Phase 2 of Hatten City will include Ivory Cove, a mixture of sea-front apartments and villas; Hatten Resort; Prime Tower, a contemporary business zone; and further shopping areas.

Hatten Group plans to complete the first phase by September 2014, while the second phase is scheduled for completion by 2019.
