US Embassy in Manila Opens $50m Green Building

The US Embassy in Manila, the Philippines, has inaugurated a $50m green building housing consular services and other offices. The new two-storey building comprises 12,000m³ of concrete and approximately 5,000t of structural steel and can withstand severe seismic disturbances.

The architectural features of the building are composed of sustainable materials and energy-efficient cooling and lighting fixtures.

The materials and fixtures used in the building conform to the requirements for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

The building also features 99 interview windows and public waiting areas.
