UK-based architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) has been awarded the master plan commission for the eco-urban community Golden Hills in Danang, Vietnam.
The plan includes a series of residential neighbourhoods, a village centre, a business district, and an education, sports and leisure district over a 375ha plot.
SOM’s plan also includes a new waterfront eco-park that will be designed to restore, protect and enhance the natural habitat along the Han River.
The northern side of the development will include quiet residential neighbourhoods while the southern part will include a more urban residential area with landscaped avenues and city-like streets.
The community will include schools, kindergartens, healthcare clinics, a hospital, sports and leisure areas and other public facilities.
