The University of Leicester has announced plans for a £30m medical school on its campus in Leicester, UK.

The energy-efficient Medical Teaching Building will house seminar rooms and computer laboratories.

The new building will incorporate several green features including external solar shades, photovoltaic solar panels, a combined heat and power (CHP) system and a free-cooling labyrinth.

The facility will also host a planted wall and green roof on the side nearest to Regent College.

The university aims to submit a planning application to Leicester City Council before the end of May 2011.
