Brent Council has approved outline planning permission for the next phase of the £500m ($809.1m) Wembley City mixed-use development in Wembley, UK.

Developed by Quintain Estates, the master plan for the project's second phase was designed by Make Architects.

Spanning 160,000m², the Wembley City North-West phase includes plans for 1,300 new homes, a new shopping street and an upgrade to Olympic Way, the pedestrian route from Wembley Park station to the stadium.

The development's focal point will be a one-acre, publicly accessible square located behind the new Brent civic centre, set to open in June 2013, according to building.co.uk.
