Fortaleza Hall in Racine, Wisconsin, has won a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification in new construction from the US Green Building Council.

Designed by London-based Foster + Partners, Fortaleza Hall is located on the campus of SC Johnson's international headquarters in Racine.

Green features incorporated in Fortaleza Hall include low-VOC paint, stains, varnishes and caulks, Oculus glass / glazing to minimise the impact of solar radiation, bamboo flooring, sustainable Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood and Terrazzo flooring.

Building materials also included locally sourced Kasota stone that reduces transportation costs and benches made with sustainably harvested US black walnut.

The facility has employed low waste appliances and systems that are Energy Star rated, water-efficient fixtures and four columns at the perimeter of the building that aid in collecting rainwater into an underground cistern for landscape irrigation.

Additional green elements include energy-efficient lighting, exterior overhang at the top of the building to reduce solar gain in summer and increase in winter, an energy-saving Airfloor floor system, a building automation system and an underground tunnel system.

Fortaleza Hall was opened in January 2010.
