US Developer Starts Work on $2bn Master-Planned Community

US-based Huffines Communities has commenced work on a $2bn mixed-use, master-planned community in Arlington, Texas. The development, dubbed Viridian, will include 37,000ft² of office and medical space and another 37,000ft² of retail space combined with sale and rental housing

US-based Huffines Communities has commenced work on a $2bn mixed-use, master-planned community in Arlington, Texas.

The development, dubbed Viridian, will include 37,000ft² of office and medical space and another 37,000ft² of retail space combined with sale and rental housing options.

Amenities in Viridian include an 18-hole riverside golf course and a 250-acre recreational lake christened Lake Viridian, in addition to parks, plazas and replanted and maintained wetlands.

The housing component will include over 3,600 single family homes in addition to 70-custom built estates on a private island on Lake Viridian.

The community will be designed by urban planner Peter Calthorpe.

Viridian is expected to have a build out time of 15 years.
