The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), has appointed Australian company Lend Lease to provide pre-construction services for its new Broadway Building in Sydney, Australia.

The building will be located on the southern edge of the UTS City Campus and will house the university's faculty of engineering and information technology.

Lend Lease will work with the university, architects Denton Corker Marshall and a consultant team on design, engineering and sustainability challenges.

The building's design features aluminium binary screens perforated with computer binary code that will define its façade and an atrium that will run through the heart of the building.

The university aims to achieve a five-star Green rating for the new facility.

Lend Lease is also expected to submit a final lump sum price to the university for construction, and enter into a contract for construction of the building subject to approval.

Construction is expected to commence in early 2012 with completion scheduled for late 2013.
