Oregon State University (OSU) has broken ground for its new $14m student success centre to house academic support services.

The new three-storey building will house 2,800m² of classroom space, a computer laboratory, and a study lounge and common area.

The centre will also accommodate counselling offices, meeting rooms and tutorial spaces for students.

The centre is being funded with $7m in donations received by the OSU Foundation and matching bonds from the state.

Construction of the centre is scheduled for completion in June 2012.
