English football club Bristol Rovers has announced plans for a new stadium on land acquired from the University of West England in Bristol, UK.

The new £60m stadium will have a capacity to seat 20,000 spectators.

The new stadium will feature a bowl design that allows use of the sloping ground to minimise the height of the structure.

Amenities at the stadium will include a supporter's club bar, a club shop, banqueting and hospitality suite, convenience store, creche, gym, jogging track and possible teaching space for the university.

The club will sell its current Memorial Stadium land for redevelopment as a mixed-use facility.

Work on the new stadium is expected to begin in early 2012 with completion scheduled for mid 2013.
