The American University of Sharjah (AUS) has opened a new School of Business and Management (SBM) on its campus in Sharjah, UAE.

The new building has been built at an estimated cost of AED90m ($24m).

The three-storey building spans an area of 14,000m².

The facility houses classrooms and student space on the ground floor, classrooms and office and administrative space on the first floor and faculty offices on the second floor.

The classrooms feature stepped floors and curved continuous countertops to enable closer interaction between students and instructors.

The design of the building provides each of the 120 offices with natural light that streams in through three open courtyards.

The building has been constructed to meet sustainability standards and incorporates several green features including insulated walls, an automated lighting system and a chiller yard.
