The University of Warwick has announced the award of a £17m design-build contract to Shepherd Construction for the construction of a new hall of residence and associated facilities.

The development will include a resident warden's house, one deputy warden's flat, and 11 residential tutors' flats, all with associated services and amenities.

The residence hall will add around 500 student bedrooms to the campus.

The facility, designed by Warwick-based Robothams, is expected to secure a BREEAM Excellent and EPC A rating.

Work on the development is scheduled to commence in July 2011 and is expected to be completed in 61 weeks.
