Canadian Town Commences Work on New Recreation Centre

The town of Ajax in Ontario, Canada has begun construction of the $35m Audley Recreation Centre (ARC).

The ARC and related park facilities will occupy a total area of 5,100m².

The ARC will include an aquatic centre housing a six-lane lap pool, a leisure pool and changing rooms.

Additional amenities include a gymnasium, two multipurpose rooms, a youth room, a pre-school room and administration areas.

The centre will incorporate several sustainable features including stormwater management, water conservation, energy reduction and waste management.

The ARC is expected to receive LEED Silver certification upon completion, and the centre is expected to open in late 2012 or early 2013.
