The University of Oklahoma has announced plans to begin construction of the Sherman E Smith Training Center, an indoor sports practice facility, on 1 August 2011.
The $16m indoor facility will be surrounded by three grass and turf practice fields.
The facility will consist of an Olympic-size soccer field with a high ceiling to allow teams to practice effectively.
The centre will also feature large retractable doors that will allow cross ventilation and keep the facility cool during summer.
Work on the artificial turf field and two grass turf fields is currently underway at an estimated expense of $3m.
The Smith Center is expected to be completed in around 18 months and open in late 2012 or early 2013.
