Architecture firm Perkins + Will has been chosen to develop a master plan for the creation of a sustainable community on the City Centre Airport lands in Edmonton, Canada.

The land is proposed for redevelopment into a sustainable, transit-oriented, family-friendly community for around 30,000 residents.

Edmonton and Perkins + Will are now expected to negotiate a contract over the project deliverables, work plan schedule and the public engagement plan.

In the next 15 months, Perkins + Will plans to consult stakeholders, community leagues and citizens for input on the site’s development.

Perkins + Will was selected from among three international finalists for their plan that focused on connectivity to nature, history, economic opportunity and adjacent communities.
