Edinburgh-based RMJM has been selected to design the headquarters of Russian gas company Gazprom in St Petersburg, Russia.
Gazprom’s headquarters will consist of office space, retail and leisure facilities and a residential component.
The centrepiece of the development will be a 426m tower, designed to complement the historical spires of the cathedrals in St Petersburg.
Sustainable features of the tower include an intelligent double outer skin to minimise heat loss, and an HVAC system that reduces energy and water consumption, and lowers carbon emissions.
The design stage of the project is expected to be completed in 2012.
