Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, the spring training venue of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies in Arizona, has secured LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council.

Designed by HKS Architects, the facility incorporated several green features that contributed to the LEED certification.

The stadium was designed with the angles of the sun in mind to ensure maximum shade, with additional terracotta screens attached to the exterior clubhouse.

Trees and cacti that were uprooted from the site were replanted along with nearly 2,400 native trees to provide shade and habitat.

Water and energy efficiency features result in 45.5% saving of potable water usage and 23.5% energy savings.

Asphalt was only used to cover one-third of the parking surfaces in the field with the remaining two-third overflow car parks being covered in grass.
