The University of Winnipeg has opened the new Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex on its campus in Winnipeg, Canada.
The $68m facility houses 30 new teaching and research labs, a vivarium and a rooftop greenhouse.
The building will serve as the home for the university’s departments of biology, chemistry and environmental studies.
The Digital Learning Lab, a learning area designed to promote engaged learning, is also located in the new building.
The ground level of the new building will house Elements, a licensed restaurant operated by Diversity Foods, which is slated to open in September 2011.
The college was developed by LTD Ventures and the project team consisted of Manshield Construction, Chartier Property Management, Number TEN Architectural Group, Integrated Designs and the UW Community Renewal Corporation.
