AEG and the city of Los Angeles in the US have named Populous as the architect to design a new convention centre in Los Angeles.

The convention centre will be named Pico Hall and will replace West Hall, which will be torn down.

Populous will design a replacement for the convention centre building, which is to be demolished to make room for a 72,000 to 76,000-seat football stadium with a retractable roof, expected to cost more than $1bn, according to AEG.
