Planning specialists from Yorkshire-based design and engineering consultancy WYG have helped Cromwell Retail Park secure dual planning permission for a £50m retail development in Cambridgeshire.

The 25,000m² scheme will see the former Wisbech greyhound stadium on Cromwell Road transformed.

Plans submitted on behalf of Cromwell Retail Park include a 10,200m² Tesco food superstore, an eight-screen cinema operated by The Light Cinemas and a restaurant complex.

The planned development includes a further 10,400m² retail park on a neighbouring site.

The revised proposals set out a reconfiguration of the floorspace previously consented, and now include an anchor food retail development and extend to incorporate a second site.

The project is anticipated to start in late 2011 and to be completed in two phases with overall completion expected in late 2013.
