Bluffton University has broken ground for a $14m health and fitness education centre on its campus in Ohio, US.
The 60,000ft² facility will house the academic department of health, fitness and sport science, and a new arena for intercollegiate basketball and volleyball.
The architects are Sasaki Associates, which also designed Bluffton’s Centennial Hall.
Expected to open by late 2012, the building will also be the first on campus to be certified under the US Green Building Council’s LEED system.
The general contractor is Ohio-based Thomas & Marker Construction. Its building projects at Bluffton have included the Centennial Hall and improvements to College Hall, the Musselman Library and the Burcky Gym locker complex.
