Columbus Foods has opened a 60,000ft² $31m slicing and packaging facility in Hayward, California, US, which has been designed by architectural firm Stellar.

The new plant is a reconstruction of Columbus’s previous 120,000ft² distribution centre located on San Antonio Street.

The development included the construction of three additional production lines for performing slicing and packaging operations.

The modern facility replaces the company’s slicing plant in South San Francisco, which was destroyed in a fire.
