Merritt Properties has begun construction on Schilling Green II, a four-storey office building, which is slated for LEED Platinum certification, in Hunt Valley, Maryland, US.

Green building features included in the design of the 195,000ft² Class A office building include reduced energy consumption with an enhanced building envelope, efficient HVAC, high-performance lighting, photovoltaic panels and reduced water consumption through the use of water-efficient restroom fixtures.

Additional sustainable features will include a carbon dioxide monitoring system to improve indoor air quality, increased ventilation, and the use of low-VOC materials.

The buildings are scheduled for completion in late August 2012.
