Morgan Sindall has won a £65m contract from investors Legal & General to redevelop a six-storey office block in Covent Garden in London, UK.

Under the scheme Morgan Sindall will deliver 55,000ft2 of Grade A office space to be completed by August 2012.

The new building has been designed by Darling Associates and the project will transform the former Strand Island building to create an entirely new internal structure, while preserving the listed façades on Chandos Place and Bedford Street.

The building will feature an open-air central atrium with two levels of landscaped terrace at its base while coloured glass fins circling the levels above to create a striking visual effect.
