Newhaven Town Council in the UK has approved a plan to redevelop a run-down part of the town’s Eastside neighbourhood.
The regeneration plan has been developed by Avalon Newhaven with Asda and Barratt Homes.
The project includes up to 190 new homes, a 40,000ft² Asda store with a petrol station and 14 commercial units.
The project also includes the first phase of the Newhaven Port access road, according to theargus.co.uk.
The Town Council’s endorsement has now been sent to the Lewes District Council planning applications committee, which is expected to make a decision concerning the development in September 2011.
