International architecture firm Broadway Malyan has unveiled the master plan for a $10bn, 17km² extension of Sadr City in Baghdad, Iraq, which will lead to the creation of the New Sadr City district.
Broadway Malyan secured the contract through an open competition which began in 2009.
The firm worked with the Mayoralty of Baghdad to deliver a concept master plan, together with implementation tender documentation and detailed sector master plans.
The Mayoralty is currently assessing submissions; Broadway Malyan is looking to secure further appointments to support the realisation of the project.
The project is expected to be delivered over the course of ten years.
