Ballarat City Council and architect Carey Lyon have unveiled a preferred design for the Civic Hall site redevelopment in the city of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.

The proposed project will cost $40m. The city council will borrow $30m and raise $10m by selling council buildings to fund the project.

The project includes a 270-space car park, a new public square at the front of the building and public space throughout the site, leading to the library and a 6,650m² building.

The glass and metal tower building will include energy-efficient features, and a distinctive entrance that is intended to create a feeling of openness and light.
