Fletcher Construction has completed a $240m redevelopment project at Eden Park stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, ahead of the Rugby World Cup.

The redevelopment includes a new six-level 21,500-seat South Stand, temporary seating on the East and West Stands, new corporate boxes and media and player facilities, according to stuff.co.nz.

Eden Park’s seating capacity has been temporarily increased from 50,000 seats to 60,000 seats for the Rugby World Cup.

The foundations of the new South Stand had to be built in variable rock conditions ranging from solid basalt through to fractured scoria.
