German architecture firm Ingenhoven Architects has been selected by Google to design its new headquarters building in Mountain View, California, US.
The building will be built on a site between Charleston Road and Shoreline Boulevard, and the structure is expected to have an autarkic geometry.
Construction of the new building, which will be home to 2,500-3,000 engineers and scientists, is expected to begin in 2012.
Ingenhoven said that the building design will reflect Google’s corporate culture and will be a model for sustainable architecture, surpassing the LEED Platinum standards.
The building will feature sustainable and ecologically oriented architecture, and use regenerative energies and resources like geothermal energy and rainwater.
