The initial plan for the £25m redevelopment of Northampton railway station in the UK has been approved.
The station plan has been designed by architecture firm BDP; the redevelopment consists of a new station, car park, footbridge and platform canopies.
The project will improve capacity at the station and provide better facilities for passengers.
The development is the first phase of Network Rail’s plans for the station area, which include building a 20,000m² commercial space called the Station Gateway.
West Northamptonshire Development Corporation and Network Rail have formed partnership to complete the station redevelopment.
