National Cheng Kung University’s YS Sun Green Building Research Centre in Taiwan has secured LEED Platinum certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC).

The three-storey, 4,800m² green building, which serves as the university’s international conference centre, was built with 100% green materials and offers 65% energy savings and 50% water savings.

The project features toilets that can reduce water run-off – part of the designs resulting in 50% water saving – and roof garden soil which uses lightweight ceramics.

The building also won the green building certificate from Taiwan’s Ecology, Energy Saving, Waste Reduction and Health (EEWH) rating system a few months ago.
