Aurecon’s office building in Century City, Cape Town, South Africa, has secured the 5-Star Green – Office Design rating by the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA).
The four-storey building, which was developed by the Rabie Property Group at a cost of around R130m ($12.5m), was designed by MaC Architects.
The building design ensures maximum indirect sunlight and reduced east and west direct sunlight.
The 7,000m² new building will serve as the new regional offices for engineering, management and specialist technical services group Aurecon, according to wap.cbn.co.za.
The project also features other green measures including an economical air-conditioning system, a building management system that monitors and controls energy consumption, treated effluent irrigation, harvesting of rain water for the flushing of toilets, and high-performance glazing on the windows to reduce glare and radiant heat.
