RTKL has won a contract to plan a 15-SKM community in Changchun, China, that focuses on preserving the natural landscape and providing sustainable, transit-oriented living.

Under the contract, RTKL will design the phases three and four of the development, which covers parks, a cultural and amenity centre, offices, residential neighborhoods, retail, a five-star hotel, restaurants, and transport.

The sustainable features of the mixed-use districts includes water preservation, implementing appropriate use of grey water and purposely orienting the site’s buildings to make sure that rainwater is properly filtered through the soil before re-entering the river.

The community development will be designed around the Yitong River and a central park intended to act as a ‘green living room’, as well as cycling paths and multiple train and water taxi links.
