Health Care REIT’s corporate headquarters in Toledo, Ohio, US, has secured LEED Platinum status from the US Green Building Council.
The sustainable design features of Health Care REIT’s corporate headquarters include a green roof system, use of natural lighting, a solar field, a retention pond and thermal storage.
The building also includes Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood, automated building controls, real time energy metering, solar thermal panels and a comprehensive recycling programme.
The HQ’s key energy efficiency savings include a 32% reduction in energy consumption, a 40% reduction in water usage, a 100% reduction in potable water for irrigation, 78% of construction waste diverted from landfills, 20% of electricity supplied by PV solar array and
84% of space lit naturally.
