Blanchet House of Hospitality has broken ground on its new $13m four-storey facility in Old Town Chinatown in Portland, US.

The first floor of new four-story 36,410ft² building includes a new kitchen, dining area, a library, and rooms for health and social services and there will be housing on the three upper floors.

Blanchet House is expecting an LEED Gold rating for the building’s sustainability features, which include water storage in the basement and an eco-roof.

Construction work on the project is expected to be completed by late 2012.
